About Synology C2
Synology C2 is a commercial cloud service from Synology designed to extend Synology NAS deployments into the cloud. Rather than replacing local storage, it aims to form a hybrid setup in which on-premises devices connect to Synology-hosted services for backup, storage, and synchronization. Synology says IT teams at businesses, schools, and government agencies use it.
The product family covers several services: C2 Object Storage with S3 compatibility, C2 Storage for protecting NAS data in the cloud, C2 Storage for Hybrid Share for syncing data across sites, C2 Storage for Hyper Backup for backing up and recovering NAS data, and C2 Backup. Further solutions cover cross-site management of users, devices, and access across multiple NAS installations, and surveillance management and backup that offloads video retention to the cloud.
Synology states that data is protected with end-to-end encryption so that only the customer can read it, and it positions the service around compliance needs and ransomware recovery through automated, policy-driven protection. It is a hosted service with no self-hosted edition, and it is most relevant to organizations that already run Synology hardware.
