About PPSSPP

PPSSPP is an emulator for the PlayStation Portable that runs on Android, Windows, Mac, Linux and iOS. It was created by Henrik Rydgard and has contributions from many others, and it is written in C++. It was originally released under the GPL 2.0 or later in November 2012, and the repository lists its license as 'Other'.

It is a high-level emulation (HLE) emulator, so no BIOS file is needed to play. Default settings balance compatibility and speed. Recent release notes mention ad-hoc multiplayer relay improvements, RetroAchievements interface updates, texture upscaling options including GPU-based scalers, and various rendering fixes. Development builds for Android, Windows and Mac are offered on a separate builds page.

Documentation for usage, reference and development is on the project website, and build instructions are on the wiki. A community compatibility feedback page tracks how games run, and help with testing, investigating and fixing bugs is welcome. The development introduction also includes the project's policy on AI-assisted contributions.
