About PCSX2
PCSX2 is a free and open-source PlayStation 2 emulator. It emulates the console's hardware using a combination of MIPS CPU interpreters, recompilers and a virtual machine that manages hardware state and system memory, which lets PS2 games run on a PC with additional features and benefits. It is written in C++ and released under the GPL-3.0 license.
The project has been in development for more than 20 years, and newer versions can run most games at full speed. A compatibility list tracks the status of more than 2500 tested titles. Stable and nightly builds are offered as installers and binaries on the website, and translations are managed on Crowdin.
PCSX2 supports Windows, Linux and Mac, and the setup documentation lists software and hardware requirements. A BIOS dump from a legitimately owned PS2 console is required to use the emulator. Contributions are described in the project's contribution guide.
