About CodeAlmanac
CodeAlmanac is a living wiki for a codebase, written and kept up to date by AI coding agents. It aims to capture what code alone cannot say, such as why a system is shaped as it is, what broke before, which invariants matter and how workflows cross files and services. The pages are plain markdown stored in your repository, indexed locally and reviewed in Git like any other change.
Setup installs instructions for the agent tools you choose and three local macOS launchd jobs. One syncs recent Codex and Claude conversations into the relevant wiki every five hours, one reviews the wiki daily for stale or duplicated knowledge, and one installs CLI updates daily. The README says the jobs and all wiki work run locally. Today it supports macOS with Codex or Claude Code.
Setup asks about anonymous telemetry, which can be refused in setup, through a flag, a config option or the DO NOT TRACK variable, and the README says it never sends code, paths, prompts or credentials. The project is written in TypeScript and licensed under Apache-2.0.
