About Ship.js

Ship.js automates the process of releasing a JavaScript package so you stay in control of what goes into the next release. Releases typically involve updating the version, writing the changelog, building and publishing, tagging in git and creating a GitHub release, and each step is an opportunity for mistakes, especially when it all runs on one person's machine. Ship.js aims to make this process automated, asynchronous and collaborative.

The release flow has three parts. In preparation, running the prepare command figures out the next version, updates the version and changelog, and creates a pull request, which the README says takes a couple of minutes. In review, you or your colleagues check that pull request. A third part carries out the release once the change is approved. Because it does not need to run on your local machine, you can keep working on other branches in the meantime.

An interactive CLI installs Ship.js into a package and writes a tailored configuration file. The project is maintained by Algolia, works with conventional commits and semantic versioning, and is licensed under MIT.
