About iD
iD is a friendly OpenStreetMap editor written in JavaScript that runs in the browser. It is intentionally simple: it lets people do the most basic mapping tasks while avoiding damage to other contributors' data.
It supports all popular modern desktop browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera and Edge, and renders data using d3.js. Prerelease versions can be tested through a stable release mirror and a development mirror with the latest translations, and the project expects a new release roughly every month. It bundles several open-source datasets and libraries, such as the iD Tagging Schema and name-suggestion-index.
iD is available under the ISC License. The project welcomes contributions and translations, has a code of conduct and contributor guide, and offers help through OpenStreetMap Slack, Discord and the community forum. Its initial development was funded by a Knight Foundation grant.
