About Flame

Flame is a self-hosted start page for a home server or lab. It gives you a single page that lists your applications and bookmarks, so you do not have to remember addresses and port numbers for each service. Its design takes inspiration from the SUI start page.

Apps and bookmarks are created, edited, deleted and pinned through built-in graphical editors, with no configuration files to edit by hand. A search bar filters local items and can query 11 web search providers, with the option to add your own. There is also a weather widget, an authentication system to protect settings, custom CSS, 15 built-in color themes and a theme builder.

Flame is released under the MIT license. The recommended deployment is Docker, including Docker Compose and Docker secrets for passwords, and it can also run without Docker. A Docker integration can add apps automatically based on container labels. The stack is a Node.js and Express backend with SQLite through Sequelize, and a React and Redux frontend written in TypeScript.
