About freeCodeCamp

This is the source code and curriculum behind freeCodeCamp.org, a learning platform run by a donor-supported charity. It lets people teach themselves programming, math and computer science at no cost, working through interactive coding challenges at their own pace. The repository holds both the platform software and the lesson content, so contributors can fix bugs, improve lessons or help with translations.

The curriculum is organized into free developer certifications, including Responsive Web Design, JavaScript, Python, Relational Databases and Back-End Development and APIs. Each certification combines lessons, workshops, labs, reviews and quizzes, and learners complete required projects before taking an exam to claim the certificate. There are also language certifications built around internationally recognized proficiency levels, currently in beta.

The project is written mainly in TypeScript with Node.js and React and is released under the BSD-3-Clause license. It is aimed at self-taught learners and career changers, as well as teachers and volunteers who want to help improve free education. The hosted learning platform at freeCodeCamp.org is free to use.
