About elgniS

elgniS is a proprietary mobile app that helps people decide where to go and who is around. It lists nearby bars, venues and spots, events happening that evening, and people who have checked in at a location and are open to meeting others. The app is for adults only and is available on iOS and Android.

It deliberately avoids dating-app mechanics: there is no swiping, no messaging and no matchmaking algorithm. Users say they are at a venue, see who else has checked in, and approach people themselves. The app runs without accounts, which the makers say collects less data and improves privacy, and a conversation-starter slogan is part of its concept. A separate section addresses venues that want to take part.

elgniS is free to download and is not self-hosted software. The source material does not describe any paid features or venue pricing, and the site lists FAQ, how-it-works and download pages for first-time visitors.
