About Tfaddalu

Tfaddalu teaches the everyday spoken Palestinian dialect used in places such as Jerusalem, Ramallah and Bethlehem, as opposed to the formal Modern Standard Arabic found in textbooks and broadcasts. It is aimed at people who understand the dialect from family but struggle to speak it, as well as partners, travelers and others who want conversational Arabic.

Every word comes with audio so that pronunciation is learned by ear. Lessons are short and built around everyday moments such as greetings, ordering coffee, family and directions. A review system brings each word back shortly before it would be forgotten, and understanding a word is practiced separately from saying it. The page notes that Palestinian Arabic belongs to the wider Levantine family, so the dialect carries over to nearby countries such as Jordan and Lebanon. The app is free to download with in-app purchases.
