About Tandoor Recipes

Tandoor Recipes is an application for managing a growing collection of digital recipes, planning meals and building shopping lists. It is built for individuals, families and friends who want to store and share recipes in an organized way rather than run a public recipe site.

Core features include a meal planner that supports several meals per day, shopping lists generated from the plan or straight from recipes, cookbooks that group recipes and sharing with other people. AI can recognize images, sort recipe steps and look up nutrition facts. Search supports full text with trigram similarity, tags can be assigned in batch, and ingredients, tags and units can be merged or renamed. Recipes import from many websites that publish structured data.

The app is built with Django and deployed with Docker, with example setups for Kubernetes, Unraid and Synology. It works well on mobile devices, offers themes and many translations, scales recipes, supports fractions and can sync files with Dropbox and Nextcloud. The maintainers note that its permission system is basic and it is not meant to run as a public page.
