About Smashing

Smashing is a dashboard framework built on the Sinatra web framework in Ruby, created as a continuation of the Dashing project after Dashing stopped being maintained. It is aimed at teams who want to display custom metrics on an office TV or monitor, using premade or custom widgets built with SCSS, HTML and CoffeeScript.

Dashboards are generated with a command-line scaffolding tool after installing the smashing gem, and widgets use data bindings to stay DRY, pulling data from databases or online sources through a simple Ruby DSL and an API for pushing data in. The interface supports drag-and-drop rearranging of widgets, and a library of community-contributed widgets, such as Twitter mentions and StatusPage.io displays, extends the base set.

Smashing can be deployed to Heroku in under a minute according to the project, or run on any Ruby-capable server. It is released under the MIT license, with community support available through GitHub issues and a Gitter chatroom.
