About Microsoft Entra ID

Microsoft Entra ID is Microsoft's cloud-based identity and access management service, formerly known as Azure Active Directory. It handles sign-in for Microsoft 365, Azure and thousands of other applications, with single sign-on, multi-factor authentication and conditional access policies that decide when access is allowed.

Entra ID is a proprietary Microsoft service delivered from the cloud, and it can be synchronized with on-premises Active Directory for hybrid setups. Microsoft documents the available editions, features and pricing on its site, and the service is commonly the starting point for identity in organizations already using Microsoft products.
