About GPT4All
GPT4All lets you run large language models on your own desktop or laptop, with no API calls and no GPU required. You download the app, pick a model and start chatting, and the conversation stays on your machine. It is developed by Nomic and released under the MIT license, with commercial use allowed.
Installers are provided for Windows, Windows ARM, macOS and Ubuntu. The Windows and Linux builds need a reasonably recent Intel or AMD processor, and the macOS build works best on Apple Silicon. LocalDocs lets the chat app work with your own files, and the project has added support for DeepSeek R1 distilled models. A separate Python client gives programmatic access to models through llama.cpp.
Integrations listed in the README include LangChain, the Weaviate vector database and OpenLIT monitoring. The core is written in C++. A community-maintained Flathub package is also available for Linux users.
