About Google Kubernetes Engine
Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) is Google Cloud's managed Kubernetes service. Google runs and upgrades the cluster infrastructure, and customers deploy containerized applications through the standard Kubernetes API without operating the control plane themselves.
Google highlights full Kubernetes API compatibility, four-way autoscaling, release channels for controlling how and when clusters receive upgrades, and support for multiple clusters. GKE also offers an Autopilot mode in which Google manages the node infrastructure as well, so teams focus on workloads rather than capacity.
GKE is a hosted, proprietary Google Cloud service, and the Kubernetes software it is based on originated at Google. It suits engineering and platform teams running containers on Google Cloud who want managed operations, automatic scaling and integration with Google's networking, security and monitoring tools.
