About Chronosphere
Chronosphere is a commercial observability platform built for microservices and Kubernetes environments. It ingests metrics and traces through open source standards such as Prometheus and OpenTelemetry, and its pitch is to help teams find and fix customer-impacting issues faster while avoiding payment for data they do not use.
A control plane lets teams analyze and refine incoming data so that cost matches value. Other components include scalable data stores, Lens for contextual incident response, Differential Diagnosis for guided troubleshooting from metrics or traces without writing queries, and SLO management for dynamic containerized services.
A separate Telemetry Pipeline product collects, aggregates, transforms and forwards logs from any source to any destination, using Fluent Bit, and can route security logs to a SIEM. Chronosphere is a hosted offering sold through demos, and the vendor publishes news on monitoring LLMs and autonomous agents.

Chronosphere: questions and answers
- What is Chronosphere used for?
- Chronosphere is a cloud-native observability platform for metrics, traces and logs, with controls that tie data volume to cost. It is a good fit for monitoring Kubernetes and microservices, cutting observability data costs, and routing logs to a SIEM.
- How much does Chronosphere cost?
- Chronosphere doesn't publish fixed prices; pricing is quoted on request.
- Is Chronosphere open source?
- No. Chronosphere is proprietary (closed-source) software and can't be self-hosted. Open-source alternatives to Chronosphere include SigNoz, OpenObserve and VictoriaMetrics.
- What are some alternatives to Chronosphere?
- Chronosphere competes with Datadog, New Relic and Dynatrace. For open-source options, see Enlisted's ranked list of open-source Chronosphere alternatives.
