Usertour is an open-source user onboarding platform that lets product teams build in-app product tours, checklists, and surveys without writing custom code each time. It is positioned as an alternative to Appcues, Userpilot, Userflow, UserGuiding, and Chameleon. Its topics also mention announcements, tooltips, and NPS. The input lists its license only as other.
You can self-deploy a feature-rich, unlimited version with Docker, and a one-click deployment option exists. Usertour also ships a built-in MCP server, so AI assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex can create onboarding experiences, reading your app's design system to match its styling and even setting up the SDK if needed. Self-hosted instances show their own MCP endpoint in settings.
Documentation, a blog, and a Discord community are available. Usertour is written in TypeScript and suits product managers and developers at SaaS companies who want to guide new users and measure onboarding while keeping control of the data and avoiding per-user pricing of commercial tools.
