About Wordfast
Wordfast is a family of commercial translation memory (TM) products created by Yves Champollion. They help translators and agencies reuse previous translations and keep glossaries consistent across projects.
The range includes Wordfast Pro, a standalone TM tool that runs on Windows, Mac and Linux and opens a wide variety of formats, including complex desktop publishing files, with project manager tools for pre- and post-translation. Wordfast Classic is a CAT tool designed as a Microsoft Word add-on, Wordfast Anywhere is an online CAT tool, and Wordfast Server hosts very large translation memories and glossaries over a LAN or WAN. There is also a Wordfast Aligner and a beta tools set.
The vendor site includes a wiki, community, mailing lists, training and a hotline. Wordfast is proprietary software, and it is relevant to individual translators, translation workgroups and agencies that want to centralize linguistic resources.
