About Trac

Trac is an enhanced wiki and issue tracking system for software development projects, written in Python. It takes a minimalistic approach to web-based project management, with the stated mission of helping developers write great software while staying out of the way and imposing as little as possible on a team's established process.

It provides an interface to Subversion and Git, and other version control systems through plugins, an integrated wiki and convenient reporting. Wiki markup can be used in issue descriptions and commit messages, creating links and cross-references between bugs, tasks, changesets, files and wiki pages. A timeline lists all current and past project events in order, and a roadmap lists upcoming milestones. The Trac Project site provides a guide, FAQ, plugin list, cookbook and demos of the current stable release.

The GitHub repository is a mirror of the project maintained by Edgewall Software, the license is listed as Other with a BSD-style license in the topics, and you host Trac yourself on your own server. Its community runs on mailing lists and an IRC channel.
