About OpenPencil

OpenPencil is an open-source design editor that opens Figma files natively, supports copy and paste between Figma and OpenPencil, and uses a Kiwi binary codec for round-trip fidelity. It includes a headless CLI for inspecting, exporting, and analyzing .fig files, supports the Figma Plugin API via eval, and can export to Tailwind CSS and JSON for CI and automation.

The editor is built with a Vue SDK and can be embedded into other products or used to assemble workflow-specific editors. It features a built-in AI chat with 90 tools for creating shapes, setting styles, managing layout, and analyzing tokens, and includes an MCP server for Claude Code, Cursor, and Windsurf. OpenPencil is released under the MIT license, requires no account, server, or internet for the desktop app, and supports real-time collaboration via P2P WebRTC.
