About Indie Wiki Buddy
Indie Wiki Buddy is a browser extension for Firefox and Chromium-based browsers. When you open a wiki hosted on a large commercial wiki farm such as Fandom, Fextralife or Neoseeker, it can notify you or automatically send you to an independent wiki on the same subject, if one exists.
The extension can also filter search engine results so independent wikis appear in place of the corporate ones. Supported engines include Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Brave and Kagi, plus custom SearXNG and Whoogle instances. The list covers over 800 independent wikis in 22 languages, and you choose the behavior wiki by wiki.
For Fandom wikis that have no independent counterpart, the extension can route you through BreezeWiki, a service that renders pages without ads. The project is MIT licensed and is installed as a browser add-on rather than run as a server product.
