About Automad

Automad is a content management system that keeps content in flat files rather than a database. It combines a dashboard for editing pages with its own template language, so web designers can build and maintain sites without setting up database infrastructure.

It can be installed through Composer, which the project calls the fastest route, or run as a Docker container that bundles Nginx and PHP 8.3 and stores data in a mounted app directory. A manual installation is also possible by unpacking a distribution bundle into the web server's document root, then visiting the /dashboard route to create the first user. A live demo instance is available without sign-up.

The repository is mostly TypeScript and the server side runs on PHP. Its license is listed as Other, so check the repository for terms. The latest release is tagged 2.0.0 beta, and documentation, a changelog and community discussions are linked from the README.
