About Wagtail CRX

Wagtail CRX, formerly known as CodeRed CMS and published as coderedcorp/coderedcms, is an extension layer for the Wagtail content management system. It is aimed at developers and agencies who want to build marketing-focused websites in Python and Django without writing every page template and content block by hand, and it presents itself as a professional alternative to WordPress.

Out of the box it provides StreamField blocks and page templates based on Bootstrap 5, such as rows, columns, hero units, carousels, buttons, modals and cards. Site-wide settings cover the logo, navigation and footer, every page gets SEO fields, and analytics tracking can be configured. A form builder supports multi-step forms, conditional logic, custom confirmation emails and Mailchimp integration. Further page types cover articles, calendars and events, plus Google Maps blocks, a store locator and filterable classifier categories.

Installation is done with pip, and a command-line starter generates a new project that you migrate, create an admin user for and run with the standard Django development server. As a Python package it is self-hosted on your own infrastructure. The repository metadata lists the license as Other, so review the license file for the exact terms.
