About Tasker
Tasker is an Android app that automates actions on your phone or tablet. You define profiles that watch for a context, such as a particular app, time of day, date, location, event or gesture, and attach tasks, which are sets of actions, that run when the context matches. It also supports clickable and timer-driven home screen widgets.
The app does not require root access or a special home screen, so it can change settings per app, adjust brightness by time, switch ring behavior by location, or lock sensitive applications behind a passcode. Its strength is flexibility: contexts and tasks can be combined however you like, extended through plugins, and shared through TaskerNet as pre-made projects.
Tasker is a proprietary, paid Android product. The vendor offers a retail version on Google Play and a direct-download build with a 7-day trial, and the site points to a user guide, forum, wiki and plugin list. Ownership passed to Joao Dias in 2018, and the project continues to ship beta builds with new sensor and dialog features.
