About Star Focus

Star Focus is a focus timer for iOS in which each work session is a trip through space. You pick a destination star, start the starship and work while the journey runs, with session lengths from 5 to 120 minutes. The map draws on several thousand genuine stars listed in the HYG catalogue and overlays confirmed NASA exoplanets on their actual host stars, so routes are based on real astronomical data.

The app adds an original score with ambient sound and pink noise, a logbook that records every flight, a hall of fame and captain avatars. The idea is that, like a passenger on a flight, you do not need to perform consistency; you are simply on the journey. It is available for iPhone and iPad, with an Apple TV version described as in progress, and the site also publishes blog posts about the real stars and exoplanets it uses.
