About Spliit
Spliit is a free and open-source application for splitting shared expenses with friends and family, positioned as an alternative to Splitwise. You create a group, share it with the people involved, record who paid for what and see the resulting balances. It can be used through the official hosted instance at spliit.app or deployed on your own.
Groups support expenses with descriptions, categories and attached images, reimbursement entries, uneven splits and a quick choice of all or no participants. You can search expenses, mark groups as favorites, tell the app who you are when opening a group and create an expense by scanning a receipt. It works as a progressive web app on phones. Recurring expenses and importing from Splitwise are listed as possible future features.
The project is built with Next.js, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui and Prisma, and the official instance runs on Vercel. It is licensed under MIT, has no ads, and covers hosting, database and API costs through donations on Open Collective and sponsorship. Translations are managed with Weblate and a Discord server hosts discussion.
