About SpendSpace
SpendSpace is a budgeting app that lets users define their own expense categories, for example date nights or pet costs, instead of fixed presets. Assign a keyword to a category once and every past and future transaction containing that keyword is categorized automatically. Transactions come in by uploading bank CSV files or connecting accounts directly through the Teller API, and the site positions the app as an alternative to Mint and YNAB.
Beyond categorization, it offers a dashboard with balances and monthly trends, AI insights that flag unusual charges, subscription detection with annual cost, investment portfolio tracking and a scenario simulator that models changes such as a raise or a new expense. Bank access is read-only, data is encrypted with 256-bit AES and keys are managed with Google Cloud KMS, and users can export or delete their data at any time. A free three-month trial is offered.
