About Mail Layer
Maillayer is a self-hosted email sending platform, positioned as an alternative to Resend. You buy a license once, deploy it on your own server, and send email through a provider you already have: Amazon SES, SendGrid, Mailgun, Postmark, Cloudflare Email or plain SMTP. It runs as a single container using SQLite, a queue and cron in one process, so no Postgres or Redis is needed, and it offers a one-click install on Railway.
Its feature set covers campaigns with visual and HTML editors, tag-based segments and open and click tracking with country breakdown, drip sequences with delays from minutes to days, and a REST transactional API with templates and delivery events. Contacts use flat tags, hosted or embedded forms feed straight in, and SPF, DKIM and DMARC are handled per provider, with bounces and complaints unsubscribing contacts automatically.
Built-in integrations cover Stripe invoice and receipt emails, Firebase Auth, Supabase, Google Sheets, Airtable and a generic webhook. It also lists workspaces for multiple brands, team roles, CSV import, S3 uploads, encrypted secrets as well as nightly backups, and runs on hosts such as Hetzner, DigitalOcean, Fly.io, Vultr and Coolify.
