Mac Pet: features, pricing and alternatives

About Mac Pet

Mac Pet puts a small animated pet in your menu bar or beside the MacBook notch. You can choose a companion such as a cat or dog, each with its own animations, and the pet is active while you work and sleeps when you take a break. On newer MacBooks, notch mode blends a black background so the notch looks as if it extends to house the pet, and you can switch between notch and menu bar at any time.

A built-in Pomodoro timer lets you set custom focus and break durations, and activity tracking records daily usage, builds streaks and shows a five-week history styled like a contribution graph. The app picks up your macOS accent color automatically and the developer says it uses under 1 percent of CPU.

Mac Pet is a one-time purchase at $9.99, and the site includes a pricing page. The page describes classic pixel art and nostalgic animations in the spirit of 1990s virtual pets, without the need to keep the pet alive.
