About Hasura Backend Plus

Hasura Backend Plus (HBP) was a project aimed at developers using Hasura, the GraphQL engine for databases, who needed authentication and file storage without building those services from scratch. It bundled the two most common missing pieces of a Hasura-based backend into one deployable service.

It supported two-factor authentication, third-party OAuth login through providers including Google, GitHub, Facebook, Apple, Twitter, Microsoft, LinkedIn and Spotify, customizable storage rules against any S3-compatible storage instance, optional email verification and secure password change flows, a JWKS endpoint for JWT verification, optional checking against the Pwned Passwords database, and rate limiting, all written entirely in TypeScript.

The README carries a clear deprecation notice: Hasura Backend Plus is no longer actively maintained, and users are directed to its successors, Hasura Auth and Hasura Storage, both of which are integrated into the Nhost platform, a managed service built on open-source components including PostgreSQL and Hasura. HBP itself is released under the MIT license, but new projects should use the newer Nhost-maintained libraries instead.
