About Google Home

Google Home is Google's smart home platform and companion app. It lets people connect, manage, monitor and automate devices around the house, including smart speakers, displays, cameras and doorbells, from one place. The vendor says thousands of compatible devices work with it, and it supports the Matter standard.

Recent versions of the app have been redesigned around Gemini, Google's AI model, which powers a voice assistant called Gemini for Home and the new Google Home Speaker. Google Home Premium is a paid subscription that adds more advanced features, and a Google Home for web option is available alongside the mobile app. A public preview program offers early access to updates.

Google Home is a hosted consumer product tied to a Google account. Compatible partner devices are listed on the site, and Google sells its own hardware, such as the speaker and Nest doorbells, through the Google Store.
