About Gemini Design MCP
Gemini Design MCP is a Model Context Protocol server that adds Gemini as a frontend designer inside an AI coding setup. The idea is to let a main model such as Claude or an OpenAI model handle backend architecture and business logic while Gemini generates the interface layer, both inside one IDE session and one conversation, so no context is lost between tools.
The server exposes tools for frontend work: create_frontend scaffolds complete responsive views from high-level requirements, modify_frontend makes targeted edits to existing components, and snippet_frontend generates standalone pieces such as modals, charts and tables. Output is described as mobile-first with breakpoints and is written directly to files, with context tracking meant to keep backend code untouched. Installation is a single command, and the site lists Cursor, Claude Code, VS Code, Zed, Windsurf, JetBrains AI, Neovim, Gemini CLI, Warp and Claude Desktop among compatible clients. Access requires an API key from the site.
