About Firefiles

Firefiles is an open-source file storage application positioned as an alternative to Dropbox. Instead of locking users into one vendor's storage, it lets them set up a cloud drive backed by the storage provider of their choice and manage files across multiple providers through one interface.

It presents a modern file-system-style interface in the browser for managing storage buckets, with support for uploading, downloading and sharing files, file previews, and file tagging and filtering where the underlying provider supports it. Backends supported include Firebase Cloud Storage, AWS S3 and Backblaze, and the interface includes a dark theme.

Firefiles is built with TypeScript, Next.js and React, and is released under the AGPL-3.0 license, so it is meant to be self-hosted on your own infrastructure connected to your chosen storage backend. The project is funded through sponsorships on platforms such as Open Collective, Ko-fi and Buy Me a Coffee, and a Discord community is available for support.
