About CLion

CLion is a commercial IDE from JetBrains built for C and C++ development, and it also handles Rust. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, and it is designed so that most of what a native developer needs is available without installing extra tools.

Its language engine is built to understand modern C++, including templates and constexpr code, and drives context-aware completion, on-the-fly analysis, navigation and automated refactorings. It works with common toolchains such as GCC, Clang and MSVC, and build systems including CMake, Makefiles, Bazel and Meson. Debugging, Google Test integration, Docker and WSL support, and embedded and remote development workflows are part of the package.

JetBrains also integrates AI assistance that can use models from several providers or a local model, along with multiple agents. CLion is a proprietary product, and the vendor states it is free for non-commercial use, with commercial licenses sold on its pricing page.
