About CertPost

CertPost is a monitoring service for SSL/TLS certificates, aimed at teams and agencies that manage many sites. Rather than relying on a renewal record, it reads the certificate that a server actually presents, checking expiry, the full chain and hostname on any TLS port that can be reached.

Warnings go out 30, 14, 7 and finally 1 day ahead of expiry, sent as one message per event to a channel the team already reads. A change history records issuer swaps and fingerprint changes with timestamps. It needs no agent, works with whatever terminates TLS, such as nginx, Caddy, Traefik, Cloudflare, Apache or Kubernetes, and offers a free check that shows whether a certificate is renewed by hand or by automation.

Key features

  • Live certificate and chain checks
  • Four warnings before each expiry
  • Monitoring of any TLS port and host
  • Issuer and fingerprint change history
  • Setup without installing an agent
  • Free check of how a certificate renews

Good fit for

  • →Agencies watching client site certificates
  • →Teams preparing for shorter certificate lifetimes
