About AWS AppSync

AWS AppSync is a fully managed service from Amazon Web Services for building GraphQL APIs. Developers define a schema, and AppSync resolves queries and mutations against data sources such as DynamoDB tables, Lambda functions, relational databases and HTTP endpoints, without running API servers themselves.

It also supports real-time features through GraphQL subscriptions delivered over WebSockets, which lets applications push live updates to connected clients. Authorization can be handled with several AWS and OpenID-based mechanisms, and multiple data sources can be combined behind one endpoint. AppSync is an AWS-only commercial service suited to teams already building their backends on AWS.

Key features

  • Managed GraphQL API endpoints
  • Resolvers for DynamoDB, Lambda and HTTP sources
