Abnormal Security, branded Abnormal AI, is a commercial email security vendor that uses behavioral analysis rather than static rules. It learns what normal communication looks like for people and organizations, then flags messages and sign-ins that deviate, such as business email compromise, impersonation, phishing and account takeover. It is aimed at security teams that want an alternative to a traditional secure email gateway.

The email side covers inbound protection, an AI security mailbox for user-reported messages, an AI phishing coach, misdirected email prevention and data loss rules. The identity side adds protection against account takeover, identity threat protection, infiltration prevention and posture management, while a newer AI security group addresses governance, guardrails for employees and security for AI agents.

Abnormal is proprietary and provided as a cloud service that connects to existing mail and cloud applications. Its site tailors messaging to industries including financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, technology, the public sector and education, and encourages displacing a legacy gateway.
