Traccar is a GPS tracking platform that is free and open source. The main repository holds its Java back-end server, which handles over 200 GPS protocols and more than 2000 models of tracking devices out of the box. It works with major SQL databases and exposes a REST API.
It suits anyone who tracks vehicles, assets or people, such as fleet operators, GPS tracking resellers that run a white-label platform of their own, and individuals following their own devices. Features include real-time tracking, driver behavior monitoring, detailed and summary reports, geofencing, alarms and notifications, account and device management, and email and SMS support.
The wider platform includes a browser-based web app, the Traccar Manager mobile app for viewing devices and the Traccar Client app for tracking phones themselves. You can self-host Traccar for free, with a Docker Compose quick start using MySQL that serves the app on port 8082, or use official managed hosting. The code is licensed under Apache-2.0.
