About Thefake

TheFake is a browser-based editor for creating mockups of chats and social posts. You pick a platform such as WhatsApp, iMessage, Instagram DM, TikTok, Messenger, X or LinkedIn, write both sides of a conversation, change names, profile photos, messages and timestamps, and download the result as a screenshot.

The same conversation can also be exported as an animated video with message timing and typing effects. The site lists more than 25 chat layouts, several post generators, free use with no signup or watermark, an API, and an interface in several languages including English, Spanish, French, Portuguese and German. Typical uses named on the page are thumbnails, ads, decks, storyboards, memes, stories and mockups, including scripts that clients or editors can review as a concrete message flow before production.
