About SABnzbd
SABnzbd is an open-source binary newsreader written in Python that automates Usenet downloading. The project describes it as free, easy to use and runnable on practically any platform. The aim is to make Usenet as streamlined as possible by automating every step it can, so people do not have to handle the individual stages by hand.
The workflow starts when you add an NZB file. SABnzbd then downloads the content, verifies it, repairs it where needed, extracts it and files it away with no further interaction. An easy setup wizard guides first-time configuration, and self-analysis tools help check that your setup is working. Many command-line options give additional control.
Running it from source requires Python 3.10 or newer, the modules listed in requirements.txt, par2 and the official unrar. Most Linux packages already pull these in. The development workflow follows a simplified GitFlow, with the master branch holding stable releases for end users. The latest release listed is 5.1.3, and the website has installation guides.
