About pg_timetable

pg_timetable is an advanced job scheduler for PostgreSQL, published by CYBERTEC. It runs as a standalone program that is completely driven by the database, offering more than traditional cron-style schedulers by letting you define chains of tasks that execute SQL, built-in operations or external commands.

Tasks can take parameters and run in chains, missed chains can be retried automatically after downtime, repetitions are configurable, and enhanced cron-style schedules are supported. Built-in tasks include sending emails and downloading or importing files. Chains and tasks can be enabled or disabled without deleting them, concurrency protection is optional, and logging is stored in the database. Chains can also be defined in YAML files, and OpenTelemetry export is opt-in.

The tool is written in Go and distributed as release packages, Docker images for amd64 and arm64, or source builds. You run it next to your own PostgreSQL server using a role with the required privileges. The repository lists its licence as other, so check the terms. It suits database administrators and developers who want scheduling logic kept inside PostgreSQL.
