About Perro Engine

Perro is a game engine centered on a Rust-first workflow, using a single consistent runtime model for scenes, gameplay and assets. Scripts are Rust code with the engine context available in every lifecycle hook, such as on-init and on-update, and they keep normal Rust modules and traits. Script behavior is shared across a script type while each node instance owns its own runtime state.

Documented systems include scoped state access to avoid borrow problems, dynamic script variables, explicit cross-script method calls and a global signal system where listeners connect by signal ID. A query system finds nodes by name, tag, exact type or base type and composes all, any and not logic, including searches inside a subtree. The runtime API covers signals, physics, animation control and timing, and the resource API covers audio, textures, meshes, materials, localization, 2D drawing and clip loading.

Input supports keys and mouse, with gamepads and Joy-Con listed as next. The site offers documentation, downloads and a donation page.
