About PayGlue
PayGlue is a bridge for Ghost publishers who want to take memberships through providers other than Stripe, which is the only processor Ghost supports natively. It turns each payment from the connected provider into a Ghost member with access to paid content and removes that access when the member cancels. It supports memberships, one-time purchases and pay-what-you-want.
Setup uses a ready-to-paste JavaScript snippet that goes into the header code injection of a Ghost theme, plus a button or pricing table placed on any Ghost page. PayGlue then verifies the provider's webhook and calls the Ghost Admin API, so no server setup or hand-configured webhooks are needed. Providers shown in the product include Polar, PayPal, Creem and Patreon, and several can run in parallel, including alongside Stripe, which still has to be connected once to activate paid tiers in Ghost.
The site argues this helps with countries where Stripe is unavailable and with tax, since a Merchant of Record provider remits VAT and similar taxes. The project is in open beta, is open source on GitHub, says it never sees card or bank data, and offers founding pricing.
