About League of Legends
League of Legends is a team-based multiplayer online battle arena game from Riot Games. Two teams of five players each take control of a champion and fight across a map, with the goal of destroying the opposing team's Nexus before their own falls. The game is free to download and play, and it is built around coordinated team play rather than solo progression.
Players choose from a large roster of champions grouped into roles such as assassins, fighters, mages, marksmen, supports and tanks, so each match rewards a different style of play. Besides the classic Summoner's Rift map, the game offers modes including ARAM, ARAM: Mayhem and Teamfight Tactics, where players assemble a squad of champions that fights on their behalf until one player remains. Skins let players change how their champions look.
League of Legends is a proprietary online game that runs on servers operated by its publisher and is updated with new champions, modes and seasonal content. Its official site also follows the game's esports scene, including the annual Worlds tournament.
