About Kontu

Kontu is a money planning app built around planning ahead rather than tracking after the fact. You list what you expect to earn and spend for the month, assign what remains to allocations such as an emergency fund or a trip, and the app shows how much is free to spend. When circumstances change you can rebalance the budget and see what is available.

The same method works for one-off projects: set a target for something like a house move, list the costs before committing the money and adjust as details change. Budgets can be shared with a partner, family member or project group, who are invited by email and work from the same totals. Insights compare income, expenses and allocations across the months you planned.

Each transaction can be entered in its own currency, with over 150 currencies supported and totals shown in the main currency you choose. Kontu does not require a bank connection; you enter planned and actual amounts yourself. It is a hosted web app with a pricing section on its site.
