About Know Nota
Know Nota, also called Nota, is a web service that estimates whether a piece of writing looks machine-generated. You paste text or upload a file of at least 10 words and get a result in plain English, along with an explanation of the score and the limits of the detector. The vendor stresses that detectors can make mistakes, so the result is a clue and not proof of who wrote the text.
Beyond the basic check there are tools for finding matching sources on the web (in beta), saved reports you can download or share, a writing history report, a browser extension for Google Docs and a developer API. It has a section aimed at students who want to check a draft before handing it in.
Know Nota is a hosted service with three tiers. The free account allows 2,000 words a day and works without a card. The Individual plan adds source matching and report downloads, and the Professional plan adds API access with bearer keys and batch checks of up to 100 files.
