About Kiiwi
Kiiwi is a macOS menu bar app that adds the sound of a mechanical keyboard to whatever keyboard you type on. It ships 38 keyboard sound packs recorded from real switches rather than synthesized ones, with 8 samples per switch, five pitch variants so no keystroke sounds identical, key-up audio and key placement in the stereo field. It also has 8 mouse sound packs.
The app lives in the menu bar with no window or Dock icon. From the menu you switch switch packs, hover a pack to preview it, and toggle sounds with the Shift-Command-K shortcut. Click and scroll sounds are optional, and a full-screen Zen mode supports distraction-free typing. Version 1.1 added typing statistics such as daily key counts, a streak, typing speed, top apps and a shareable card.
The statistics count keystrokes without recording which keys you press or what you type, and they stay on your Mac, with export to JSON available. The site includes a browser playground where you can try the recordings. Kiiwi is sold as a paid app, at a $4.99 launch price with $6.99 stated for later buyers.
