About Jekyll Admin

Jekyll Admin is a plugin for the Jekyll static site generator that gives it a graphical, CMS-style administration interface. It is aimed at Jekyll site owners and content authors who find editing markdown files and front matter directly less convenient than a visual editor, without giving up Jekyll's static-site model underneath.

The project is split into a Ruby-based HTTP API that performs Jekyll and filesystem operations, and a JavaScript front end, built with React, that consumes that API to present the editing interface. Collection labels shown in the admin sidebar can be customized in the site's config.yml so, for example, a 'posts' collection can be relabeled as 'news items' if that better matches the deployed site's terminology.

It installs like any other Jekyll plugin by adding it to a site's Gemfile and running bundle install, after which the admin interface becomes available at /admin alongside the normal Jekyll development server. It is released under the MIT license and is maintained with contributions from a community of code and financial contributors.
