About DesignCraft

DesignCraft is a page layout and publishing application developed in Rust, currently in development. It provides tools for creating multi-page documents with spreads, parent pages, frames, threaded stories, paragraph and character styles, swatches, and text wrap. The app includes a Knuth–Plass paragraph composer with dictionary hyphenation, optical margin alignment, and baseline grids, ensuring consistent line breaks on screen and in PDF output.

It supports print-ready PDF export with selectable text, embedded fonts, CMYK and spot colors, bleed, crop marks, and archival PDF/A format. The application is designed for speed with multithreaded SIMD rendering, copy-on-write documents, and cached composition. It offers a documented native format, PNG export, and layout interchange import/export. DesignCraft is agent-native, allowing every menu item, tool, panel, and dialog to be driven via a JSON control channel and an MCP server.
