Chat with GPT

Chat with GPT is an unofficial, open-source ChatGPT client aimed at users who want more customization and extra features than the official ChatGPT interface offers. It connects to OpenAI's ChatGPT API directly, so usage is billed by OpenAI at pay-as-you-go rates rather than through a separate subscription from this project.

Beyond chatting, it supports searching past conversations, viewing and editing the system prompt sent to the model, adjusting a temperature setting for response creativity, editing and regenerating messages, and full markdown rendering including code, tables and math. It gives ChatGPT a realistic human voice by optionally connecting an ElevenLabs text-to-speech account, or falling back to the browser's built-in speech synthesis, and speech recognition is powered by OpenAI's Whisper model. Favorite chat sessions can be shared through public URLs.

Users bring their own OpenAI API key, which is stored only on their device and never sent anywhere except to OpenAI. It can be used through a hosted version at chatwithgpt.ai or self-hosted with Docker. It is written in TypeScript and React and released under the MIT license.
